In cooperation with the faction of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, a roundtable discussion was organized on “New mechanisms for ensuring employment of the population in the mahalla”.
The dialogue, attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, officials of the Central Council of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and activists of the “Oltinsoy” MCA of Olmazor district of Tashkent, provided information about reforms, positive changes, and legislative innovations and their role in improving people’s well-being.
It was noted that the primary goal of the country’s socio-economic policy is to increase jobs and reduce poverty. In recent years, tremendous work has been carried out in the country to ensure the employment of the population, train young people and women in professions, and consistently increase their incomes.
Speakers discussed the reforms and their results in ensuring the employment of the population. Notably, in the last three years, a significant milestone was achieved by creating a completely new and separate system in the country to reduce poverty and create new jobs.
Another very important innovation in this matter began to be implemented at the beginning of 2023. All districts were divided into 5 categories depending on their socio-economic development level. Based on the district’s category, the procedure for providing relief at different levels was introduced.
Today, the development of family entrepreneurship is given considerable attention to reduce poverty and create new jobs. The state deeply supports this sector. In particular, 13 trillion UZS of loans and 1.5 trillion UZS of subsidies are allocated annually to develop family entrepreneurship.
Urol Urozboyev, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and a member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, delivered a speech on the essence of the tasks set in the video selector meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of the Head of state to ensure the rate of economic growth in regions and sectors and discuss priorities until the end of the year. In his speech, he noted that on the initiative of the President, experiments were started in Saykhunabad of Syrdarya region, Uychi of Namangan region, Zarbdor of Jizzakh region, and Gijduvan district of Bukhara region, and more than 4,000 mahallas are specialized in industry and agriculture due to the reduction of the economic complex to mahallas.
Boymurod Yusupov, Department Head at the PDPU Central Council, spoke about the new mechanisms for reducing poverty and ensuring employment. In 2023, through the “Iron Register”, “Youth Register”, “Women’s Register”, and the newly introduced “Social Protection Register”, 2 million 300 thousand families focused on full coverage of women, older people alone, and the population with disabilities.
Following the roundtable discussion, taking into account good experiences, proposals and recommendations aimed at increasing the role of the mahalla institution in strengthening families and social support of the population were developed.
