Nature has no bad weather is only in songs. But in fact, nature again and again tests us for strength. Quarantine, then storm, and then with a flood.
Houses are destroyed. Gardens and crops planted with great difficulty during the quarantine regime were destroyed. Drowned livestock. Confused and destitute people.
“We are delivering food and clothes, blankets, towels. We are giving toys to children. People are in shock. Many just sit and cry. Even men. Everyone is shocked”, from the story of the deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Nodira Janibekova, one of the first to arrive at the place of the tragedy.
Trouble overtook our Uzbek land. In Sardoba, oqoltin and Mirzaabad districts of Syrdarya region, thousands of families were left homeless due to an emergency, communications and infrastructure were destroyed, agriculture suffered significant damage.
The leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the administration of the region, the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, doctors, law enforcement officers, and the military responded promptly. Affected residents were urgently evacuated to safe places.
The President of Uzbekistan immediately arrived at the place of the disaster. The Government Commission has been formed, all measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences of the emergency. The Head of the state personally supervises the restoration work. First of all, Shavkat Miromonovich met with residents of the flooded areas and instilled hope in everyone: no one would be left without attention and care. All will receive material assistance and support.
People from all over Uzbekistan responded to the call for help. Collection of products, clothing, essentials for those affected by the dam burst on Sardoba Reservoir was organized in all regions. The collected humanitarian aid in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological standards is sent to Syrdarya region.
“Thanks for the support. Together we can handle it. We are strong. We have an unique people!”, Nodira Janibekova, Deputy from Syrdarya region, says with admiration.
Indeed, the tragic events vividly demonstrated the cohesion of our society, its responsiveness and generosity, willingness to help. No wonder folk wisdom says: “Friendship and brotherhood are more valuable than wealth”.
Yes, we have united, feeling the pain and despair of those who were in trouble. Because there is no other person’s misfortune. And if we confront it with the whole world – shoulder to shoulder, sharing both bread and a kind word, then we will stand and win.
