The Media Center of the Central Council of the PDPU hosted an online workshop on “Further improvement of the system of support for persons with disabilities and strengthening guarantees for the protection of their rights and freedoms”.

It was attended by officials of the Central Council of the PDPU, leaders of the Society of the Disabled People of Uzbekistan, the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan, the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan, deputies of the Tashkent City Council of People’s Deputies, activists of party groups in all districts and cities.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Council of the PDPU Turakhonov Tulqin Tilovovich informed the workshop participants in detail that one of the priorities of the PDPU election platform is to promote the creation of an effective pension and social security system that guarantees the satisfaction of the vital needs of pensioners, the disabled, orphans and other disabled groups of the population, expanding the opportunities and rights of civil society institutions to provide material assistance to low-income segments of the population, and primarily to the disabled and lonely elderly people.

In his speech, the head of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of Deputy Associations and Working with Public Receptions of the Central Council of the PDPU, Yusupov Boymurod Jumayevich, paid special attention to the fact that despite the existing legal framework for creating a comfortable environment for people with disabilities, buildings and vehicles have not created necessary conditions for the use of persons with disabilities, failure to comply with the requirements of the legislation in this direction is due to the lack of proper state and public control in this matter. Therefore, there is a need to adopt the state program “Life without obstacles”, which regulates the mechanisms for complying with legislation on creating an enabling environment for people with disabilities.

At the event, the importance of ensuring the active participation of citizens with disabilities in the social, economic and political life of the country was addressed by the Chairman of the Society of Disabled People of Uzbekistan Abdullayev Komil Qadamovich, the head of the Board of the Society of the Blind of Uzbekistan Norpulatov Ergash Jurayevich, the Chairman of the Tashkent City Council of the PDPU, the deputy of the Tashkent City Council of People’s Deputies Eshmetova Nigora Asomidinovna, as well as Muhamedov Khusnitdin Khusanovich and Khamidov Ulugbek Kholikovich, who expressed their opinions and proposals on further improving the system of social protection of disabled people, increasing the effectiveness of their medical, social and professional rehabilitation.

Following the event, it was planned to establish public supervision over the further improvement of the system of social protection of persons with disabilities, increasing the effectiveness of their medical, social and professional rehabilitation, expanding their integration into society, providing needy persons with disabilities with high-quality prosthetic and orthopedic products and increasing the service of medical and labor examination, implementation of generally recognized norms and standards for ensuring the rights of disabled people, checking the conditions created for disabled people in the urban transport system.
