A strong social policy is the main idea of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan. Programmatic goals related to preventing social inequality in society and ensuring that every person lives in decent conditions, with satisfaction from every day, are embodied around this idea.
The leaders of the People’s Democratic Party met face-to-face with voters at a public event on October 18, 2024, in Uch Favvora Avenue in Namangan.
At the event, which took place in a festive spirit with the participation of representatives of various fields, public activists, the elderly and young people, the role and influence of the People’s Democratic Party as a political force in the life of the state and society was discussed. The new Election Program of the People’s Democratic Party, which covers goals and ideas of equal interest to all citizens, was widely introduced.
In particular, the party is resolutely trying to expand the construction of affordable housing to provide the population with affordable housing and quality communal services, strengthen effective control in the construction sector, and ensure citizens’ right to have housing guaranteed by the Constitution. In the New Election Program, the initiative to adopt the Law “On Social Housing” is being promoted. It envisages the construction of social housing for the segments of the population in need of social assistance, including those who are homeless, whose living conditions are harsh, women with disabilities or family members with disabilities, and graduates of family orphanages.
Also, it is envisaged to strengthen public and state control in construction and strictly define the requirements for considering green zones, schools, kindergartens, polyclinics, parking lots, etc. at the legal level. This will help prevent unplanned constructions and organize construction processes in an orderly manner that does not harm the population and the environment.
The program also focuses on the factors that affect people’s daily mood and emphasizes increasing the level of quality utility service. For this purpose, the Law “On Regulation of Utility Services Prices and Tariffs” is planned to be adopted. The goal is to make prices and tariffs open and transparent and to achieve reasonable prices. The law determines the conditions for regulating the prices or definitions of utility services.
In addition, the People’s Democratic Party has always protected the rights and interests of persons with disabilities. This year’s program also focuses on the rights and interests of persons with disabilities, and it is proposed to introduce a “quota for persons with disabilities” in elections to the parliament and local councils and in public civil service.
In the new election, the People’s Democratic Party aims to be one of the leaders and to occupy a significant number of seats in the parliament and local councils. As once again recognized in the face-to-face dialogue with the voters, the party’s experience, strength, and potential are sufficient for this.
Voters especially approved initiatives that serve the interests of the population in need of social protection, such as the idea that the development of a network of “legal clinics” that provide free advice will be legal aid in protecting the violated rights of low-income citizens and ensuring the social acceptability of legal services.
At the same time, positive attitudes were also expressed to the proposals aimed at introducing the procedure for the one-time use of the possibility of shortening the period of deprivation of the right to drive, to ensure legality in road transport, by placing an announcement about the planned repair works on the roads and their duration on the Internet at least ten days in advance.
Representatives of the party’s electorate also addressed the meeting and acknowledged that the proposals included in the program are popular and vital.
The mass event, which attracted activists and well-wishers from other regions of the country’s valley, was characterized by singing, dancing, and joy. A quiz was held to improve the participants’ political knowledge, and promotional souvenirs were given to the most resourceful participants.
Following the event, the participants spoke about the importance of elections, the country’s future, and not being indifferent to one’s destiny, and calls were made to vote for the People’s Democratic Party and its candidates.
